"After more than seven years of war in Afghanistan and Iraq, the Air Force's aging jet fighters, bombers, cargo aircraft and gunships are at the breaking point, they say, and expensive, ultramodern replacements are needed fast.
"What we've done is put the requirement on the table that says, 'If we're going to do the missions you're going to ask us to do, it will require this kind of investment,'" Maj. Gen. Paul Selva, the Air Force's director of strategic planning, said in an interview."
I do believe the United States should be able to project our global power and be able to defend and dominate the skies, now and into the future.
I am not so sure we have the funding to ugrade the Air Force's needs and to be able to balance those needs with the other military services.
As a former service member, I understand the need for equipment upgrades, but I also know the service member at the bottom needs good (yet often not as flashy) equipment
Again; can we really aford this?
Can we really afford not to do this?
